Extraordinary General meeting (rescheduled)
The meeting of the 22nd
march discussed our finances, what with no contribution from Westland’s Sports
& Social club towards the gate, the gate itself, scalpings and mower; we a
getting very short of money. A special levy will be required, and we agreed to
call an Extraordinary General meeting on 26th April to
discuss and approve (or disapprove) this.
Later (4th April) we found this date was impossible for several critical committee members, so it has been rescheduled to Tuesday 3rd May.
Home at last
The editor’s missing battery pack has returned home (19th February). After rest and recharging it expected to return to fully capacity and active flight duties.
Mower
At the monthly meeting on 22nd February we decided to pursue the offer of a second-hand ride upon mower. This will be stored at the farm.
Lessons (re)learnt
Pegboard
A curious range check problem bothered Baz for a while today (6th March) until we realised some one else was doing a ground run on the same frequency. Just as well neither where flying – please use the pegboard.
Pre-flight check
Despite checking twice at the pits and once before take off; one of our fliers only discovered that his elevator servo was reversed at the post-mortem. Moral - even if you have a computer transmitter check that the control surfaces move the right direction, rather than simply move.
Servo mounting
After remounting an aileron servo, the Editors Twinjet suddenly has almost twice the roll rate. The only explanation is that I have been flying with a gradually loosening servo for quite some time (potentially quite a problem for delta with only 2 servos in total).

Scalpings
It was bright and dry Saturday (19th February) morning with a cold North wind. The 'digger men' with assorted spades, rakes and wheelbarrows started arriving shortly after 09.00hrs followed at about 09.30hrs by the cavalry - in the form of the farmer with his tractor fitted with its own tractor size shovel. The 9 tons of scalping arrived shortly after. After the tractor did some initial spreading, the club members (I counted at least 18) piled in and completed the job. It was all done well within an hour and followed up by a 'thumping' machine to compact the scalping.
Meanwhile over on the flight pad grass cutting was tacking place with a (small for the size of the pad) domestic lawnmower.
A busy morning was had by all.
